Due to Govenor Polis’s executive order today, we are having to temporarily close our doors for in-school learning (starting tomorrow). Pastor and the rest of the academy administration have already started working on a contingency plan for the academy, and we will be in contact with you in the near future. If you have not already come and picked up your student’s school books, please stop by tomorrow between 1PM-3PM to pick those up.
If you are in need of anything or have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know!
I just wanted to let you know that we will still be open for school tomorrow. There are still no cases of the COVID-19 virus in our area, and the water is back on in the school building. :) We are staying on top of updates for the virus and are daily seeking to make the best decision for our academy.
We do ask that you exercise caution. If your children have traveled out of our area to a place where the COVID-19 virus has been diagnose, or have any symptoms of being sick with anything, please keep them home. Keep washing hands and staying healthy! We do not want anyone getting sick with anything going around!
I want to emphasize that any families who choose to keep their children home this week will not be penalized. We do ask, however, that you come pick up their school work tomorrow so that they can stay on track (if you have not already).
As I said before, if a confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus is diagnosed in Montezuma County, we will cancel school. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
Love you all!
LCA Response to the COVID-19 Virus
Due to the fact that there are no COVID-19 cases in our area, we are choosing to continue with school this week. The only schedule change is the half day on Friday will now just be a complete day off. School will proceed with normal hours through Thursday, March 19. Local ER doctor, Dr. Randy Davison, is keeping Pastor Burkett updated on the COVID-19 status in our area. If any local cases arise, we will close school. We are taking this day by day.
If you prefer to keep your children at home this week, we completely respect that decision. We do ask that you pick up your student’s work from school so they can stay on track. (Please reach out to Mrs. Gray with any questions concerning streaming videos.)
Spirit Week has been postponed until everyone is back after Spring Break. The third quarter has been extended, and report cards will be distributed once third quarter is closed out.
If you were not able to be in our Sunday morning service or if you attend a different church, we greatly encourage you to listen to our service from Sunday morning (Facebook live on the Lighthouse Baptist Church page or on our Sermons page of the website). Pastor Burkett preached a great message on living a life of faith in the midst of fear. He also had Dr. Davison get up and talk with the congregation about how to approach the virus situation.
As always, know that we love you all! Mrs. Gray will continue to keep parents informed of any changes in the school schedule via email.
SCHEDULE UPDATED 3/16/20
Due to Montezuma County having a water outage in our area tomorrow, we will NOT have school on Tuesday, March 17. We will resume school for Wednesday, March 18 - Thursday, March 19 as planned. If there are any further changes, you will continue to be notified via email.
